Patton Oswalt has been headlining clubs all over the U.S. since 1996. In 1999, Variety chose him as one of ten "Comedians to Watch," and in 2002 he was Entertainment Weekly's "It" Comedian. Oswalt has filmed stand-up specials for HBO, as well as a recent hour-long special for Comedy Central titled "Patton Oswalt: No Reason to Complain."
Looking for a way to bring cutting edge comedy to a different audience, Oswalt put together the "Comedians of Comedy" tour in 2004 with several other comics, using indie rock venues rather than traditional comedy clubs. The tour was documented in Showtime's 2005 film of the same name, which was followed by a six-episode series on Comedy Central, in which Patton starred and executive produced.
TV credits include regular appearances on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," co-host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Seinfeld," "NewsRadio," "The Man Show" and "Crank Yankers." He will reprise his role as 'Spence' on the sixth season of "The King of Queens" on CBS. Oswalt has appeared in the films "Starsky & Hutch," "Down Periscope," "Man on the Moon," "Run, Ronnie, Run!," "Zoolander," "ZigZag," "Calendar Girls" and also played doomed skin diver 'Delmer Darion' in Paul Thomas Anderson's "Magnolia." He is also the voice of 'Remy,' the lead character in the Pixar film, "Ratatouille." His Comedy CD Feelin' Kinda Patton received rave reviews upon its release in the summer of 2004.
As a writer, he spent two seasons on Fox's "MADtv" and has also written and produced the "MTV Movie Awards," "VH-1 Fashion Awards" and the "MTV Video Music Awards." His short film, "A Pack of Gifts Now," won an honorable mention at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival.
Patton's style of comedy has been described as acerbic and sarcastic, covering topics from pop culture frivolity such as comic book supervillains and 1980's hair metal to deeper societal issues including American excess, foreign policy and religion. The ChildCare Action Project, a Christian-based website, gave both of his hour comedy specials 'red alerts,' primarily for Patton's focus on 'male demon anatomy.'
